    Love

    Lesa GavronSeptember 20264 min read

Sitting still today and reviewing where I am in this world, I ask: how can I make a difference where I am? I was reminded of an old song by Janis Ian, you might remember her from her hit "At Seventeen." Read the words and evaluate what the meaning of love is to you. In our world today we need to say the truth… something’s wrong.

Lyrics: I went to see my sister, she was staying with a friend, who had turned into a preacher to save the world from sin. He said, “First deny your body, then learn to submit, pray to be made worthy and tithe your ten percent.” I said, “Is this all there is, just a letter of the law? Something’s wrong.”

Chorus: Something’s wrong in heaven tonight, you can almost hear them cry. Angels to the left and the right, saying, “What about the love? What about the love? What about the love?”

Take some time, listen to this song and see where your heart gauge is. If we treat one another in the ways we have been mis-treated, when we discard, when we give away our power to the strong… then something’s wrong.
